The Dancing Fountain of Versailles

The Dancing Fountain of Versailles (named by none other than moi) was definitely one of the coolest things that I saw in France.  There were loud speakers surrounding the fountain play a classic composition by some famous musician.  The fountain would dance, and twirl, and shoot, and twist to the symphony and it was truly something to behold.

Adventure Through Chateau Versailles

This is the quick tour of Chateau Versailles.  I've shown you a lot of the gardens (and trust me, there's still much more to come...) but now, I want to give you a taste of the other aspects of the Chateau Versailles.

Here is the view from the front steps of Versailles.  Just outside the ornate gold fence and the vast courtyard lies a 'front yard' of sorts, swarming with hundreds of eager and waiting tourists...

Then you venture inside...

Almost everything in the Chateau Versailles is original from before the revolution, and before the Chateau was stormed and all of the items were stolen or destroyed.  This recreation has taken hundreds of years and millions of euros...

Fencing Fountain of Youth

This is what we in the business of fountain hunting call the Fencing Fountain of Youth.  Aptly named, it has fencing all around and spurts up at random intervals.  It makes you feel young, serene and... fenced in.  I'm not sure how long I can carry this metaphor on for, but being in the presence of this fountain is like being in a japanese zen garden.  It truly is a relaxing, peaceful, and well-groomed plot of land.

Magic Spraying Surprise (Coliseum @ Versailles Gardens)

It (was) my birthday 39 minutes ago, so I didn't have a chance to post a blog but I felt so selfish not posting one that... well, I had to.  This is the same coliseum in the Versailles Gardens, but with a little surprise added.  Once in a while, a fountain show is put on at Versailles and you have to pay a few extra Euros to get into the Gardens.  At first, I wasn't enthused by the idea but after a three and a half hour wait (baking in the sun) the fountains started pounding and let me tell you, it was something...

The Coliseum Garden (Versailles)

There are those places where you spend too much time.  You know what I'm talking about, we're all guilty.  Well, this section of the Versailles Gardens that I dubbed 'The Coliseum' is one of those places.  It has gorgeous arches which wrap around and expose an interestingly sexual statue.  There's so much tension emitting from the statue that it's almost palpable.  

Anyways, Zach, Dustin, and I spent upwards of an hour in this area of the Gardens, and I took so many pictures that I was eager to make a blog.  Of course, like everything in the Versailles Gardens, there are hidden treats in the area that we will discover in the next entry.  For now, enjoy...
